$5.89 per gallon where I just filled up!

We'll just keep punting this thread until there's some real inflationary news coming once the 10% minimum tax starts to raise prices on everything. I'm sure we'll work out "deals" eventually, but until then, taxes.

      Wow!

I paid $2.75 early last week. I passed that same station a couple of days later and it was $2.73. I haven't been by since but the station just outside of our development dropped 5 cents in the past few days.

Inflation has not risen as the media hyped inflation to rise. Once again the media making a big deal out of a nothing burger.

Actually, inflation rose again for April and again in May, bucking the overall trend of coming down. Notably, food prices were up. Inflation near 3% may be the new normal versus the historical 2% while we continue through all this uncertainty with the totally avoidable, inane trade war.

More companies than expected didn't pass on the full cost increases to consumers from the tariffs, but there is only so long they can sustain that, especially if they are publicly traded companies. Shareholders aren't going to tolerate weak earnings because costs rise and prices don't rise in turn to compensate. Unless all of the market manipulation ends, companies will have to hike prices at some point.

Question for the boards; is the tariffs still going to increase inflation or was it all a scare tactic by the media? I returned home from my Hawaii trip which was great BTW, and in Los Angeles, I just bought a dozen large eggs at my store for $2.99/a dozen. I thought the tariffs would sky rocket inflation?

Tariffs on foreign goods have nothing to do with the price of eggs as those are nearly 100% sourced domestically. The egg prices, as we've discussed before, were due to outbreaks of avian flu necessitating the destruction of millions of birds. As the hen population recovers, egg prices decline.

Will tariffs raise prices? Absolutely. There's no way they can't. It's simple math. If a company sees their costs rise 10 or 25 or 50% or more, they have got to raise their prices to compensate.
