  • And speaking of share prices "to the moon"...... and taking risks....

I was reading about the successful soft landing of Odysseus on the moon and how the shares of Intuitive Machines (LUNR) have gone up in value significantly since yesterday.

I think they closed at $8.28 yesterday and today there has been quite a bit of interest. (I love the "LUNR" ticker ) I wonder where the share price would have gone if the mission had not been so successful?
Are you only as good as your last mission? Or, do you create some sort of spin off in order to keep the company going?

I know nothing about this company .... But how does it make/preserve/grow profits? Relying on government contracts, maybe research institutes? Seems like an extremely low-volume business, albeit high-dollar when you do get a contract. But failure of a single project could constitute a loss of 50% or more of your annual revenue. Seems tenuous.

Interesting & exciting event, but not gonna see it in my portfolio.

Oops, maybe not quite so successful ... I just saw a report that the lander actually ended up on it's side, with it's antennas pointed directly into the lunar surface. Woopsie!
