I have found that it is easier and easier to order things on-line and have them delivered straight to the house than to go out and chase around stores to get it and then haul them to the car and then haul them into the house. I have found some things are cheaper to buy online if I wait for a 30-40% off coupon and free shipping - like printer cartridges for my Canon printer that I get from CVS on line.

This is the sort of thing that varies a lot for me. This year, I'm already well over $1000. We just finished our basement and bought many things for that online: a fireplace, a bathroom vanity, a beverage fridge, glass shelves, door knobs, lighting. We shopped around between various web sites and in person stores for most things, and in many cases, ordering online was both faster and less expensive.

When we're not finishing a basement and our overall spending is lower, our online spending tends to be in the $100s, but it's creeping higher every year. I never would have expected it, but I find I can actually get most little incidental items I need for the house quicker by ordering them online than by waiting till I'm able to get to the store. I recently had my old can opener fall apart. I started to think about what store I'd need to go to buy a replacement and when I'd be able to get there when I remembered I could just buy a new one on Amazon. So, I pulled out my phone, picked a can opener, and put it out of my mind till it showed up on my doorstep.

I voted "over $1,000". I don't think it's over $10,000 but depending on what you count as online shopping it could approach that. Is it online shopping if I buy plane tickets? What if I book a cruise? Our entire trip to Phoenix next week was booked and paid for online. That's almost 5K right there.

        * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
        * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
        * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

I think that's definitely online shopping, but I totally forgot to count it myself. If still don't think that would push me into the "over $10,000" zone. But, it would definitely put me in "over $1000" most years.

I have easily spent well over $1,000. I'm sure I've spent $1,000 at Amazon alone last year. I bought almost everything online last year but I don't believe it would be over $10,000. This year will be a small fraction of that. I'm buying most things with cash now since we have been having problems with our credit cards being hacked repeatedly and the card companies can't seem to figure out how this is happening. Not to mention the stores being hacked, too. My husband's identity being stolen last month was the last straw.

I don't think I have a clue. As detailed as my financial records are, I don't separate out online shopping. It would be tedious to go back and figure it out.

              re: retail shopping
Probably most our shopping (in general) breaks down to gifts (mostly bought online) and clothing (mostly bought in person). re: retail shopping. Video games/electronics is probably fairly 50/50. Even the big stuff, it just varies where the best deal is. Sometimes online, sometimes better in person. Or sometimes better to just get a price match at a store you can easily make a return to.

Not including travel. It's hard to book not online. We're talking tangible goods you buy. Not experiences like baseball tickets.

Then definitely over $1,000 but under $10,000 typically.

In the end I voted less than $1,000, after looking closer at retail spending the last couple of years. We will go over if we do a big electronics (> $1k) or big appliance type purchase online.

I absolutely love shopping online! saves my time, money and probably even keeps me in a good mood Great to just ckick a button and receive your order without moving anywhere, looking for a parking space etc etc etc. Shopping online is great!
