I haven't got a feel for stuff so I have no idea. QMM I am looking for a 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan DVD player because mine is dead and the dealership is going to charge us $1700!
Is it like this one?
A lot of wrecking yards have realized they can turn a good buck or two selling this kind of stuff through eBay... It's been an invaluable resource for newer and also not-quite-classic cars (like 90's and early 00's).
History will judge the complicit.

I've sold quite a bit of things on marketplace. Most of the things we sell or either too big to ship or weight too much. I like to flip exercise equipment so local pickup only. We've been buying baby stuff on market place for the last year and a half...we use it until he grows out of it or no longer uses then resell. A lot of baby items you can almost break even if you buy used, which can add up to quite a bit o savings.
I still buy in eBay but haven't really had anything to sell that was worth my effort.
I have a co worker who sells hot wheels on eBay. There are special ones called treasure hunt ones. There's a site if you Google. He'll go around and look through all of them in the store. He said it only takes a minute since they know what to look for. Slightly different packaging and graphics. He resells them and says it's a fun thing to do since he can be anywhere on vacation for example, and if they head to a Walmart he'll take a peak. He even runs into people in the area who do the same thing from time to time.

I'm on the opposite end where I buy and sell almost anything. I went to 2 estate sales today and bought the following:
Snoopy mug
2 vintage Tupperware items
A box full of vintage matchbooks
A Barbie book
An Old Spice shaving mug
2 University of Miami yearbooks from 1957 and 1958
I spent a total of $24 for everything. I'll make that back on the Barbie book alone.
I shipped 4 orders today: a Gorham crystal angel, 3 Agatha Christie novels, 2 vintage bars of Octagon soap, and a digital TV converter box.
Very diverse inventory but if I can make a good profit on it, that's all I care about.Steve

Until recently (we no longer have a nearby source for gearing up our boys), we rarely purchased anything for our kids. When we have/do, most of the time it's used, except sometimes for shoes or other stuff that needs to fit better.

Question for eBay sellers pertaining to taxes collected from various states. Today 2 of my items sold, one buyer is from Nevada and another buyer is from Alabama. Both had to pay me their states sales taxes which I collected. I live in California. How does it work at the end of the year, do I now have to file additional state taxes for Nevada & Alabama for the taxes that I collected?

You didn't collect the sales tax. Ebay collected it for you.Last edited by disneysteve; 07-23-2022, 11:11 AM.Steve

Today's estate sale haul:
16 sealed blank VHS tapes
17 sealed blank cassette tapes
A sealed Craftsman blade sharpener
A sealed electric oversize Snoopy Christmas snow globe
An old Snap-on tool catalog
7 sealed HP LaserJet toner cartridges
Paid $50 for everything. The toner is about $15 each. The VHS and cassette tapes are about $4-5 each. Blade sharpener is about $60. Snow globe probably $30-40. Catalog about $15. All together, my $50 purchase should bring in about $350 in sales. I know the toner and tapes are good sellers so they should move pretty quickly. The other items might take a bit longer but should sell in a reasonable time.Steve

When I found the Barbie book, for example, experience told me it was an unusual item. The ebay app told me that it sells pretty easily for around $25. I was able to buy it for $1 so I knew there was no way I wasn't going to get a nice return even if I wasn't able to get $25 for it.
You just need to be patient and not rush. That might mean spending 2-3 hours at an estate sale picking and researching. I love American Pickers but they show you a very edited version of what goes on. On the show, they may spend 15-20 minutes at a pick that actually took 6 hours. Just yesterday, I spent close to 2 hours at a sale and could have easily spent 2 more if I really wanted to.Steve

Can someone provide advice on what I should do? I ordered a new $1000 Samsung Galaxy S22 + which seems to be stuck in NY. Should I open a complaint? Does eBay put the responsibility on the buyer to track the item or the seller to find out what happened. I'm starting to worry, if it was a $30 item no biggie but this is a $1000 item.

A while ago, I shipped an order to a guy in Texas. For some reason, it turned up back on my doorstep a couple of weeks later. The tracking showed there was a problem delivering it but it also showed the package was still in Texas even though it was back in my possession in New Jersey. I often see tracking showing nothing for days and then suddenly have the package arrive.
If it was due on Saturday and hasn't arrived by Wednesday, I'd contact the seller to let them know. If it still doesn't show up, I believe you file an "Item not received" claim with ebay and their guarantee will cover it.Steve
