I'd rather have a Porsche, even if it's the cheap model and slower than the GTR. The GTR is pretty impressive but it doesn't pop on Street for me

gtrs are impressively fast, especially given their weight. They used to be a good bang for the buck value when they first came out too.

I also think they're very ugly. They look like maximas on steroids.

The body style needs new look/style from bumper.

I spoke to the salesman and asked the commission for a car like this still $1k. Not sure if wasntelling the truth, they do make more commission selling used cars.

If I was going to spend 100 large on a car, it wouldn't be a Nissan. But to each his own.

I might spend that amount on a gentiy used example of one of these though.

yup around there. 30-40% price inflation is pretty crazy.

main problem with ferraris isn't really the purchase price, it's the maintenance costs and reliability issues. At one point in my life (I was making a lot more money, and trending upwards), I did some preliminary research on exotics. I think you'd be better off forking over more money for a 430, it will cost you less in the long term. 360s are now pretty old, and most of the original parts are going to need to be replaced $$$$$. Additionally, the cam BELT in the 360 needs to be replaced regularly, I think this requires dropping the motor. The 430 is chain.

Also from my research, lamborghinis are the best bang for buck exotics. They're about as reliable as you'll get for an exotic. Main costly item you'll pay for is the clutch, which is also expensive on the ferrari.

People that own these cars suggest having a rainy day fund of $15-20k just for the car if something major breaks. Expect normal maintenance cost yearly of $2000-4000.

Maybe when you hit your next major financial milestone you could rent an exotic car for the weekend as a nice reward to yourself? Take a drive down the coast?

1 million in Net Worth before I can consider buying a used GTRs, excluding primary home at minimum. We're half way there! It'll be probably in my early 60s & retired that I would consider buying to be more comfortable factoring depreciation + maintenance cost. For now, its just a dream.

I put my vote up for a lotus evora. If you want an exotic that can last 200k miles, that Camry engine will get you there Plus it's under 60k used!

My second vote will be the new NSX. Stylish and reliable.

I think the BMW i8 should be reliable too considering it's a pretty simple design in an overkill body shell.

The new lexus FC is pretty ridiculous as well.

I think I'm going to buy some cars as if they are my kickstarter stretch goals.

                          1mil in taxable account: used convertible..maybe a boxster, z4, F-type
2 mil in taxable account : used exotic like a lotus evora
3 mil: used audi r8, NSX or something.

I owned three and spent a grand total of around $3600. I actually made a profit on all of them. Modern Ferraris are pretty much bullet proof. Anything from 1989 on. Most of them don't get driven enough to even come close to wearing out.

wow, nice! And you're right about most of these cars being garage queens!

I've also noticed that the pricing tends to be dependent on the economy. During the last market crash and the years afterwards, the prices of exotics tanked big time. Then afterwards (like now), the prices are on a strong upward trend. It seems like similarly to investing/buying in the stock market, buying when the financial world is going to **** is the best time to buy.
