*This is off topic and not to be offensive or anything.*

The fact that you saved any money in your bank account tells me you already sacrificed memories you would of made with your daughter.

Nothing wrong with that by any means or else we'll end up telling everyone on the forum to YOLO. Balance is key like I said before. You make your memories, but make your sacrifices as well.

Like Steve and others have said repeatedly on this forum, making memories and enjoying experiences isn't always about spending money. DH and I both work for large companies and have a set amount of vacation days each year. We do a pretty darn good job of making the most of those days off. The fact that we make our retirement a priority doesn't mean we are sacrificing memories.

Singuy you're having an off week it appears. This doesnt make any sense. Like storm and ds said...you do not have to spend tons of money to experience things. How hard is that to understand?

For the time being unless the powers that be destroy them...we as americans are all public land owners. There are vast amounts of space set aside where no can mess with (for now.) State parks/national parks. Teddy Roosevelt had a vision to set aside millions of acres of unspoiled picturesque land that everyone can enjoy. For $80 you can buy a national park pass that allows you to visit any national park as many times you want for 1 year. Maybe you've never been to any national parks but there are endless amounts of things to do (assuming you enjoy the outdoors.)

You really need to get off this kick that you have to spend mass amounts of money to experience things.

          I'd say it's just lifestyle.

Depending on the type of activity, some just attract more old people than young and vice versa. I used to do a lot of local motorcycle riding with various groups in the mountains-- lots of 20-something riders. I also used to do a lot of track riding, lots of 30-40-something riders. Then I did a couple motorcycle touring, and the riders were mostly 50+/-.

Young people may not have as much $ as old people, but that doesn't mean they value material things over life experience.

I think you guys missed the post about when I said Time IS Money. And to some people, time cost more than any vacation package out there. I am not arguing that there are things to do for free doesn't exist.

Just because a company forces you to take a few weeks off a year doesn't mean that time off is completely free. Many people I know work other jobs while using their paid time off. It's sad but it's their choice. Comparing people like that, your paid time off that you choose to even just to sit home and play computer games technically is costing you. You can either spend the time with family, or spend the time making $$$.

The trick is to get to a point when you don't feel(which is a personal feeling) that you are sacrificing memories for money(making money). SR posted that he doesn't feel like he is sacrificing memories for retirement..he has found a good balance.

            Here is an example.

There are people who spends every dime they have on time offs and vacations. There are people who take non-paid time off just to create memories. To those people..what someone like SR, Steve, myself, you are doing is sacrificing memories for money because YOLO. I have many people ask me "what if I die tomorrow?..why should I even save money and not enjoy life?" during my financial course. To these people, any attempt at saving money is a sacrifice for their YOLO life.

Then there are people who takes 0 vacations..find other jobs to work during their paid time off..to those people..we are money wasters. Everything is relative..this has nothing to do with the expense of the trip..but what you choose to do with your TIME.

Ewww! I was never a snl fan and had to google that.

If you do a google image search for Storm Richards, this is what you will come up with. Of course this is not my actual picture. I am much prettier!

Yeah Pat was a sketch where no one knew if Pat was a he or she. They were pretty funny...probably some youtube clips. Thats what it made me think of since some think you're a dude and others think you're a girl.

Is this another SNL reference I am not aware of?

I have caught a few minutes here and there while channel surfing, but I have never watched a full episode of that show.
