  • How much do disk jockeys make ?

Watching the Preakness now, and noticed that a lot of these disk jockeys are midgets. But I’m guessing they are making some giant bank. Anyone know what kind of jack these guys make?

    Do you mean horse jockeys?

They make very little and have horrible working conditions. They get paid by the race, as little as $25 to literally put their lives on the line every time. If they finish in the money, they get a cut of the prize money. It could be as much as 10% or as little as 0.5%. I think most earn 30-40K/year. Some lucky ones make way more than that. They are independent contractors so they have to buy all of their supplies and equipment.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?

Maybe they'd get paid better if they DJ'd while horse jockeying. Though most DJs I know do it as a side gig and don't earn a ton, so maybe not. Probably best to stick wtih desk jockeying.

I went to a midget wrestling match in Vegas back before the face diaper epidemic. Good stuff. Seems like there’s some good career choices out there if you’re a little on the short side.

You might not know, but the M word is rather offensive. Little people works though!

They didn’t say anything about little people wrestling in Vegas.

Yes, I hear that Vegas is known for making morally sound and inoffensive word choices. Maaaaybe not the best location to base your vocabulary on when you're posting publicly on the internet though, huh?

So, for a horse jockey, most aren't in it for the money. They might make less than $500.
The top ones, who are well known with lots of wins under their belt, can earn 6 figures in a big race.
Then, their agents take a cut.

                  Professional wrestlers:
the top guys make a fortune.
John Cena brings in over $8 million a year.
The Vegas side show stuff being talked about here, those guys might get a couple hundred bucks a night depending on the gate and their agent.

The term m*dget is offensive and derogatory. This thread should be deleted.

Not to pick on any one specifically here - but I would like some evidence that people who do have achondroplasia are in fact offended by the term "midget".

I’m going to lean to the side of education and leave it up but close it.

Here is the official statement from the international support organization:
