  • I just saved $264 a year!

So I called Verizon this morning to see about getting a better rate on my cell phone plan. Apparently, they recently rolled out some promotion or plan that I was able to switch to. It lowered my bill $22 a month or $264 a year.

No hidden fees or catches, no renewed commitments, no decrease in data, no new or upgraded phones needed. It was just a straight up price break.

Good way to start the day!

    That's great.

We just changed our plan on Sunday. I don't know the exact price drop yet but it will be somewhere around $40/month I think.

I think inertia costs us all thousands of dollars - cell phone plans, cable tv packages, insurance policies, etc. I really need to get in the habit of re-shopping those things annually.

Congats! Sounds like expensive plans to begin with though, and for what... (very) slightly better coverage out of the city. Verizon is a rip-off.

It's a family share with 4 lines on it. Unlimited texting, 3GB data, etc. etc.

I agree it was too expensive. That's why I called yesterday to complain.

The cable company is next on my list. I'm going to call them first chance I get.
I'll post the results here on the forum and let everyone know if I can get a price break.

            good luck.

For cable/internet when I hit 200/mo I contacted them; now I'm paying 140/mo for 12 months, then a little higher for the next 12 months. No premium channels; 1 DVR and 2 other HD boxes.

I was adamant about keeping my current package; they tried to push every other package/upgrade - even if it was a better deal, it was only going to be short term too.

Be sure to call them when that 12 months is up too... They will put you into another deal, possibly even a better one if you end up in the "retention department". I dont have cable, but I have been doing this with my internet for almost a decade now.
