Our daughter was laid off last month and filed for unemployment. She was notified today that she doesn't qualify. The qualification period they look back at ended 9/30/19. Up until June 2019 she was working for a non-profit. I know they handle unemployment differently. I reached out to the administrator to find out what the deal is. According to the notice, she didn't have 20 weeks of eligible employment on the books. Apparently her time at the non-profit didn't count and she had only been at her current job for 6 weeks by 9/30/19.
I'm really not familiar with how unemployment works. Why do they base it on what you were doing 6 months ago and before?
