FIRE derailed?

Do you think this stock market or job market has derailed people's plans for FIRE? Do you think that more people will FIRE because they are forced to by layoff? Do you think that people will want to FIRE because they see the position they are in? Or do you think there will be FIRE early retirees forced back into working because their portfolio or even rentals have taken a huge hit?

I think that people closing in on FIRE and those in FIRE with very lean portfolios will go back to work or work longer. I know for ourselves it definitely has delayed us reaching our "number". But our plan was never to retire when the number hit.

I'm sure there will be early retirees whose plans get derailed. They'll be in a really tough position because they may find themselves seeking work in the midst of a recession and period of high unemployment.

And I'm also sure there will be people who were on track for early retirement who will have to delay that due to recent events.

they'll be ok if they properly diversified into a good mix of risk and non risk assets and if their asset base is large enough. My guess is that 9/10 of them aren't going to be ok.
