Amazon Prime Worth It?

Amazon Prime is definitely worth it for me. We buy pretty much everything on Amazon. In 2019 I placed 210 orders just through my Amazon account, and my wife also placed orders through her account. We also shop a lot at WholeFoods, which often give deals for Amazon Prime members, plus Amazon Prime members get 10% off extra on everything they have on sale, so just that by itself pays off the price of Amazon Prime membership for us.

Is this new? We've had Prime for..hmm, maybe 3 years now? Before Prime, everything we wanted to order had shipping costs. That's why we signed up for Prime.

They used to offer free shipping on orders of $25 or more. I thought they had increased it to $35 a while ago but I'm not sure. Maybe it's back to $25. We've had Prime for years so I don't pay attention anymore.

This is one of the big things I like about Prime. Most things we buy are under $25. Before Prime, we had to put things in our cart and not just wait a couple of extra days for shipping but also wait until we needed other things to be over the $25 needed for free shipping.

They did increase it to 35, think it's back to 25. Probably had trouble juggling with the volume of packages at that time so upped it.

Prime hasn't been worth it for us -- we don't order frequently, and especially living in Alaska, even Prime's "2-day" shipping is actually closer to a week (in fairness, normal shipping takes ~2 weeks). Now that we're moving back to CONUS, it'll be at least arguably meaningful... But we've also been sharing my brother's Prime account for the random occasion when faster delivery was needed. So it just hasn't met the cost-benefit threshold for us yet.
