I still haven’t gotten a tablet and only own laptops. What is so good about these other accessories that I see other people own? I get the health monitoring aspect but what else?

I don't have a smart watch, Fitbit, or AirPods. I do have a desktop and laptop. I have an Amazon Fire tablet that I bought mainly to use at the gym on the treadmill. I use it around the house too as it's easier to watch videos on there than on my phone since the screen is larger.
I am interested in getting some sort of wireless headset for when I'm running so I don't need to have the cord bouncing around. I won't get AirPods. I actually just one an over the ear blue tooth one that won't fall out and only goes on one ear because when I run outside, I like one ear open to hear traffic around me.
I see no point in Fitbits and smart watches.Steve

i own one of the old (original fitbit) the step tracker can be an incentive as many people( me included) think they move more then they do.
There are a few other features like monitoring your sleep like mumof2 suggested and there is the app that you can add /track what you eat throughout the day.
Do I think people NEED this NO, but it did help me to drop a few pounds and be more conscience of snacking and how I tended to not move some days.
Friday at work I watched a grown man work himself up over losing one of these expensive gadgets somewhere fell out of his ear.
There is also a person whose car was broke into as he left his air pods out in sight so now he has to replace a window in his car and it was raining all day so his car is wet as well.
Some people like these gadgets.... and find ways to use them others don't. I have zero idea why anyone one of those Alexa type things but some people like it.

DW & I both have Aftershokz as well (I have Trekz Air, DW has Titanium)... We both love them. I can listen to music while I run, ride my bike, go shopping, whatever, but I can still hear, react, and interact with people around me. Love it. They're Bluetooth, sit comfortably & securely above/behind your ears, and battery is good for easily 8-10 hrs of use.Originally posted by Jluke View Post
As for the Fitbit stuff... My wife likes her basic Fitbit because it gives her the external motivation she needs to get up & moving. I found one on a hike, and wore it for a while, but I wasn't too impressed. Though the sleep tracking was nice. I also work in a secure area, so no phones or other transmitting electronics are allowed. So I constantly have to take it on/off (mostly off), and the activity tracking missed over half my day.
I have a government-issued iPad for my flight publications. I'll admit the size is just right for reading, watching stuff, and still being easily portable. I haven't bought one for myself, but I do use the government one to read everything for my masters work. I don't think it's useful enough to buy one myself, though DW has a Fire tablet that she uses periodically... Luckily, it was relatively inexpensive, then she won another one that I think we gave away as a gift.
Otherwise, we have a desktop at home, DW & I each have Chromebooks & smartphones. Nothing too crazy with electronics.Last edited by kork13; 12-21-2019, 10:21 PM.
