  • Vacationing based upon exchange rate

Anyone do this? I mean choosing a country based on the exchange rate with your country? Seems like it could be a good way to vacation for cheap.

Went to Canada a few weeks ago and had this idea.

We've cancelled plans to vacation in USA until exchange rate modifies. This is likely a phenomenal year for Americans to travel in Europe based on exchange rates for Euro. We've always based extended travel in Vietnam and Cambodia on exchange. Mexico and Thailand has been excellent for years. Prices adjust immediately anytime there is an 'incident' in Thailand, after cost of flight the rest is incredibly inexpensive, the people do everything they can to make tourists happy, I wish we could transfer this positive attitude here. You can explore a new culture and cuisine if you're open to change.

I'll be going back to Thailand later this year and have been watching the exchange, its 35.5/1 right now up from 34.5 just 3 months ago. It's pretty awesome when you can eat a meal for $1, ride a taxi anywhere in Bangkokg for $3 and stay in posh hotels for around $17 a night

I wouldn't say I plan my trip around it but the exchange rate certainly helps. On our last years trip to Italy the rate was 1.35, recently for our trip for later this month I was able to buy Euro at rate of 1.10.

        Every bit helps.
