This reaffirms my reasoning as to why Baroke Owebama was elected TWICE. Too many uniformed voters not caring about our country and blindly going to the voting booths. This country is in trouble big time because it's "all about me" as the masses stare into their cell phones for the next "selfie"

They bring in analysts and "experts" to delve into every minute detail of the story. They interview everybody they possibly can, regardless of how much or how little that person actually knows about the incident. Then days later, they are still talking about the same story as "new details" emerge. Stories that are really of no significance except to the people directly involved suddenly become national news stories. Folks buy magazines and watch trials of total strangers. I will never comprehend the appeal of it all.
I haven't found a way yet to get local news online quickly and without all the commentary. I don't care for our local paper, it's got too much that really is just fodder.

MODERATOR STEVE HERE
Folks, please keep the conversation on the topic. Do you keep up wit the news? The question wasn't about politics. The question wasn't about religion. If it wanders in that direction again we'll need to close the thread. Thanks.Steve

The only news-related thing I do regularly is read Time magazine, although even that, I skim or totally skip most of the "news" stories. I'll read the first couple of paragraphs but then it goes into the same issue as the TV news. It goes on for 5 pages talking about a story that was really told pretty thoroughly in those first two paragraphs.Steve

the one good thing about canceling the paper is they will hound you with deals until you accept something. "Alright, twist my arm, I guess I don't mind taking your paper for free on Thurs and Sunday for a whole year," sigh, like I am doing them the favor.

Yes, I'm aware of current events. Read the headlines every morning (online). Mostly national news; will watch the local news maybe 2-3 times per week.
Funny you should ask - just had a 10 day vacation, and was "unplugged" for most of it. It was refreshing.seek knowledge, not answers
