  • Christmas shopping list

I just checked it off the bucket list. I cut down a christmas tree for the first and only time ever and we have one. Usually we buy precut. For some reasons every year before we never made it out right after thanksgiving so by the time we got to the farms the good trees were gone and Charlie brown trees were mostly what was left. This would piss me off, I really like a nice tree, so we'd go buy a pre-cut one. This year the we got our act together and bought a tree the day after thanksgiving. I had a blast and so did the kids but boy was it muddy and dirty. DH laughed his head off and video me cursing and down in the mud and talking about putting my back into it. I have to say it was quite and experience. I told my mom and she was super impressed and liked it. It's a hawaii thing to dream of cutting your own christmas tree. I mean they are ridiculous in hawaii. I paid $40 for a tree. My mom paid that 35 years ago in hawaii. She always had a small and nice pre-cut. As for my DH? He's wishing for the year I give in and let him buy a fake tree.

We are done with christmas shopping.I believe I'm under $500 for everything.
    $40 Tree
    $60 Lego advents
$120 DK1 (hover board and shopkins)
$140 DK2 (calico critters, watch, and scooter)
$35 Bath bombs - stocking stuffers
    $35 razor wheel skates
    $60 Parents and Grandma

    $490 total

Nothing for DH and I. Although that might change. Do you guys get anything for spouses? Last year we did a weekend away for DH's 40th. I'm not so sure what we should do for his birthday and Christmas. And we haven't done our Holiday Cards. UGH! I forgot. Another $40 and $50 postage.

The only thing is...getting a tree too early means it can dry out before Christmas, which can result in lots of pine needles everywhere.

It sounds like you had a great time. We like cut trees and one year we decided to cut our own.

Like you, I don’t think we will be doing it again anytime soon. It was a nice tree, but I got bit by an insect on my ankle and it took forever to heal.

They shook the tree after we cut it down, but we noticed there were bugs in the tree after we got it home. We typically put our tree up on Christmas Eve and keep it up ‘til New Years Day. Well, we took this one down the day after Christmas! (Luckily, we didn’t have any of them move into the house permanently.)

Yes, DH and I exchange gifts each year. DH is getting an elliptical for Christmas (he picked it out).

Being a Beauty fanatic, i just want a Giftcard for my local beauty shop for a facial or sugaring treatment! No more is needed for christmas.

Stuff for christmas decorations can be found in the local forest all you need is some clay.
Christmas presents can be created by yourself, maybe with some help from one of these DIY sites

We spend $0 on a Christmas tree. Ours is a beautiful artificial hand me down that my parents bought in the 80s. They made them so much nicer back then! I budget $600 for Christmas. So far only spent $200, but expect to be under budget this year.

We do Chanukah, not Christmas. DW and I don't exchange gifts. We're not going to see DW's family this year so escaped having to do any gifts for them. There wasn't really much of anything that DD wanted this year so we gave her $500 to use toward a Supernatural convention she is going to. Other than that, the only Chanukah-related spending we did was some extra groceries because we had a couple of DW's cousins over for dinner last night.

Normally, no. But if I see something I think he'll like that he won't buy for himself, I'll buy it and give it to him. The last one was about 8 Christmases ago -a pair of Perfect Push-ups - he uses them every day he's at home.
