I'm a big fan of XM radio in my vehicle as I spend a lot of time on the road and like several of their stations.
But ...... Their billing system and charges are ridiculous. I got a bill last week to renew for something like $185, checked online and I'm paid fully till August of 2019, but they just send these bills regardless. I guess a few people mistakenly pay them? Also, the initial rate they give you is ridiculous, you can negotiate it down to about 1/4 that cost.
My car salesman was pretty helpful on this. We got six months free, then he told me they would start billing me, but don't sign up until it gets down to $XX, and never give them a credit card, pay by check or you will have a difficult time getting away from them. Last time when I renewed, I got the invoice, contacted them and told them that I would like to keep the service but would not pay the amount on bill, only $XX just like when I originally signed up. They said no problem, cross out the amount, write in the agreed amount and send payment.
Seems like a pretty ridiculous business model, but apparently there are enough people out there paying the full amount that it is worth their while?
