  • Life Alert or similar device (OnStar for Grandma?)

My grandmother is now 90 years old and she's slowed to the point where we think she could be due for an episode where she can't get to a phone to call for help. She lives in a condo building where her neighbors are usually working during the day and aren't around to hear her call out for help. They do check in on her a few times a week and we love them for that, but, as an extra precaution I think we've persuaded her to finally wear a "life-alert" type device, for her peace of mind and ours alike.

Other than the hideous "I've fallen, and I can't get up" ads for the actual Life Alert device, are there any other good ones out there, or success stories with other products/services? I'm assuming these price in the $30/month for service range?

Thoughts, tips, experiences, all greatly appreciated...

Att has a simple GPS, emergency call button, txt, phone device for kids we are about to pickup. Seems like it would be a perfect multi use device for the elderly.
