  • Netflix or HuluPlus?

So, I'm trying to get a feel of who has either Netflix or HuluPlus and why?

Personally, I like HuluPlus more than Netflix. I have had both and Hulu just has more tv shows I enjoy to watch.

    What about you all?

P.S. Does anyone have experience with Amazon Prime?

I use all 3. I only really have Prime because of the free shipping aspect, but it does have some stuff the other two don't.

Netflix - No commercials! Great for binge watching older shows or their own content (Orange is the New Black). Will put up seasons of shows once their new season starts. Movie selection is decent, but having the DVD option opens it up more.

Huluplus: Has commercials that are approximately a minute in length. Has the more up to date shows (will post the following day after airing). Movie selection is not so good. I've noticed that some of the library is disappearing. I use this program more as a faux-DVR. CBS shows are almost nonexistent, if existent at all.

Amazon Prime: Can't say it's my favorite. It has some titles that aren't on either Netflix or Hulu...but unless you're going to take advantage of the free Amazon Prime shipping function, I wouldn't recommend this.

I mostly use Netflix. I find that if I want to watch something specific, I often can't find it streaming on Netflix. But, if I'm not picky, I can always find something good to watch. It helps that most of my co-workers have Netflix and that we discuss what's new and good on Netflix the way some people discuss what's on cable.

I use free Hulu when there is a new show I want to try following. I've yet to come across anything that I want to watch on Hulu that I would need Hulu Plus to see. Sometimes I think it'd be nice to get Hulu Plus so I could watch Hulu somewhere other than my computer, but it doesn't really seem worth paying for.

I've had 2 30 day free trials of Amazon Prime since it started including video, once when I bought my first generation Kindle Fire and again to take advantage of the free shipping. The first time I used it was before I cut cable. I liked the Kindle Fire integration, but I couldn't find much I wanted to watch on it. The second time was after I was subscribed to Netflix, and I didn't find any reason to use the video at all.

We have Amazon Prime and Netflix online. I agree Amazon Prime is great if you buy a lot of stuff online. The prime free movie feature is nice but shouldn't be the main reason to get Amazon Prime.

We have no experience with Hulu Plus. Have used the free version of Hulu and wasn't very impressed.

We also use Hulu Plus and Netflix online. Sure we pay $16 instead of $8 but both have shows we like that we can watch at our convenience and its still 80% cheaper than basic cable. I don't think the movie selection on either is very good, but our 5-y-o does watch movies on Netflix. We considered upgrading Netflix for movies through the mail but just using Redbox the 1 or 2x per mmonth we want a movie works just fine for us.

We only have Netflix and use it regularly. We have discs and streaming. My daughter uses the streaming on a daily basis. I use it to watch things when I'm on the treadmill. Periodically, my wife and I will use it to watch a movie. We use the discs to catch up on more recent movies since we almost never go to the theater.

I haven't seen any reason to pay for another service (Hulu Plus) since we also have Comcast On Demand.

            * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
            * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
            * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

Our little one loves watching Curious George on Netflix. There's a lot of content for kids. WE also like watching tv shows that are completed like Monk, etc. No commercials either.

For more recent moveis yes we like Redbox too. Or we stream through Amazon Prime.

We have both. I much prefer Netflix - No commercials. But, Hulu has brand new content. Which was the only reason my spouse was willing to drop cable. So, both have their pluses and minuses. I had't watched a commercials in over a decade though, so the commercials drive me a little batty.

We have not used Amazon Prime because the selection doesn't appeal to us. BUT, we use Amazon all the time. Is the only place we can get Mythbusters. & my spouse signed up for some service that gives him free movies and shows. I don't even know if we have to pay for Mythbusters any more, he can probably get it for free now. (Most/All the shows we have bought on Amazon are not offered in their Prime service. Which is why we have found it more useful to just buy the shows we want to watch. No commercials, so that is a plus).

We use Netflix a lot...wife and I are watching Star Trek The Next Generation and enjoy the experience a lot. No commercials is a huge plus for us, because we don't have to mute the audio every 10 minutes when OTA programs go in to their seemingly commercial modes.

I did that a couple months ago (I had such a crush on Picard when I was younger...) I wish they had played to continuity better, oh what that show could have been.

Not sure how you all feel but Netflix needs to add movies. Sooooo many classics I am shocked they haven't added by now.

We have HuluPlus. We got it as a replacement for cable & most of the shows we watch are on there. One minor disappointment is that they have more content available through their website than if you are using an app/service like on the PS3.

My husband works at a video store and gets certain movies for free or we would probably have Netflix too.

Wow, I definitely did not know that having Amazon Prime allows for the video watching as well as free shipping. Thank you for that awesome info!

And I could see how Netflix can complement Hulu and vice versa. I suppose $16 isn't a whole lot of money for both services, considering how much Cable costs.

I like Netflix a lot, especially for their selection of B disaster movies. However, for the past two+ months I have been going with just Hulu+ and Amazon Prime. Surprisingly, I am finding that I don't miss Netflix at all.

I'm debating about whether or not I'll renew my Prime membership in October. But as for Hulu +, I'll keep with that until I have to start paying for it. I get Hulu+ for free by using Bing rewards and redeeming points for Hulu+ free month codes. Bing had a deal on them this past month where you could get a Hulu code for 300 points - my Hulu+ subscription is "paid" for through the end of August. I don't care for the commercials either, but I do like being able to keep up with some of the more current shows - especially since I don't own a tv.

Have you considered streaming devices like roku or other streaming media devices? I am considering the roku 3.
