Fri, 5/23, $ 60. for starter annuals at my fav plant nursery. It took 4 hours Saturday and Sunday evenings to prepare hanging baskets and replant all those flats. I spent $ 30. more today for large sized, grape tomato plants. These grow well and produce prolific crops in tubs on our balcony. Prices have doubled for flats of common annuals but after this long, difficult winter we're desperate for fresh color.

Does it count if somebody else is paying for it?

My wife and I went out Sunday afternoon and bought new luggage. Our current luggage was a wedding present from my parents in 1992 and it has definitely seen better days. We love to travel so those suitcases have gotten plenty of use over the past 22 years. Our anniversary is approaching and we told my mom that we'd like new luggage for our anniversary present.

Macy's was having a nice sale so we checked out the options, checked some online reviews (love those smartphones) and bought two 25" Samsonite Silhouette suitcases. With the sale price and extra friends and family discount, they came to $210 each plus tax, total of $450.

About an hour ago, I bought some bicycle shorts online. I am an avid cyclist and needed some new shorts. I was able to save 33%, no sales tax (9%) and free delivery.
