  • Which mattress is the best?

First time post, but I have lurked for a few months. I have my first question that I hope I can get some help and information about. We are looking to purchase a new bed and this is one of the items that people say is worth spending extra on since you spend so much of you life on one. My question is what is the best mattress out there and how much should it cost? Prices seem to be all over the place and there are all kinds of discounts so it's hard to know what is a true price when it comes to mattresses. Thank you for any help you can give.

Every word you wrote is so true. Adding to the confusion is that we all have different preferences and the terms used to describe the same feature are different. If you don't have a mattress with the extra pad sewn on you'll have to replace fitted sheets with wider pocket type fitted sheets. Asking the number of coils and wire gauge is straight forward.

We spent a hilarious day trying out beds in the larger stores. I checked with Consumer's magazine and Consumer's Book at the library for their 'Best Buy'. Some sales like "President's Day ' are good bets. I know the mark up is really high and often you can negotiate the price as some mattress is on sale at some store every other week! I always ask for free delivery and free take away old mattress as a walk away from the purchase.

Whatever you do, make sure it comes with some kind of comfort gaurantee where you can return it within a definied time period if you end up not liking it.

Mine didn't have that. Biggest. Mistake. Ever.
      History will judge the complicit.
