So, I just got offered and accepted a new job. It will be 4 days a week, 6-7 hours a day. For massage therapists the cutoff for full time is 20 hrs a week, so after 90 days I will be elligible for benefits. No idea yet what my costs will be for health insurance, or what that coverage will be like because it's going to be changing from what they have now starting in January. I will be able to keep my coverage through my husband's plan until then. The job is commission and tips only, but there is a $15 an hour minimum base pay. If my commissions are more than that I will get commission. I will never make under $15 an hour plus tips. I have given notice at my nail salon job, and will be switching to a permanent sub at the airport. My income probably won't increase initially, but it should increase within a few months time.
DH should be getting his promotion within the month. The pay increase should cover our rent increase, which starts next month. Moving doesn't look to be a realistic goal right now. We have contacted many apartments and never get our calls or emails returned.
DH also starts his personal trainer classes next week. We were able to pay for the course in cash, but between that and travel expenses for my grandpa's funeral, we had to take 1300 out of savings. So that will need to be replenished. We are hoping that once his certification is complete he will be able to bring in a few hundred more a month, plus he shouldn't have to pay for a gym membership any more. He is hoping to land a job at the gym he currently goes to.
I had to go to urgent care a week ago at one in the morning because I woke up with really severe abdominal pain that was radiating into my back. Ultrasounds turned up nothing, so they just gave me pain killers and sent me home. I have a $2000 deductible, so unfortunately there will be a likely very large bill forthcoming. I am hoping that we'll have the cash by then to just pay it off and get a small discount. If not that will be one more payment we have to make. The urgent care clinic is pretty flexible, and they give you 10% off for paying the bill all at once.
