I have heard that there is a shortage of pennies at times because so many people hoard them in jars and things around the house. There must be literally millions of dollars worth of pennies out there sitting in coffee cans and jars just sitting around peoples' houses.

And don't forget how many people throw them away. Many people won't pick up a penny they drop, and I find 5-30 cents in pennies every week just laying around on tables and counters in our breakroom because whoever was given them as change didn't want them.

I like getting dollar (and half dollar) coins once in a while. They're fun for tips and yard sales.

i guess the 'girls' around here are safe either way, since most the 'adult bars' in this area give their change out in $2 bills. after a few drinks, jimbo doesn't know if he's sliding over a $1 or a $2.

before the comments pour in from the peanut gallery, just remember the cigar store. there is a higher than normal number of $2 bills that wind up making their way into that store... luckily, i don't usually handle the cash!
