Question re renting a property

We will be renting our place out as of Jan. 1. When we sold/rented our other house on contract we had a lawyer draw everything up because it was kind of a unique situation and we had specific terms we wanted in place. For this rental though, its really general and we aren't asking anything specific of the renters or anything. Is there any reason not to just buy a generic state-specific agreement off of legalzoom or something similar and fill in our details?

I'm not opposed to hiring someone when it makes sense, but in this case I'm not sure it does. Any landlords done this?

In this case, it might be okay to use a more generic structure. It is typically still good to have an attorney review the final pass before you are ready to implement. Having someone read the final draft and point out any last concerns would likely be worth it in the long-run.

I have been a renter who was on the other side of that kind of agreement. In the UK you can buy one of those template rental agreements in the supermarket... It went ok, but then there were no problems or unforeseen stuff while I rented the place.

I would always have your lawyer at least look over the paper before you use it! Money saved here isn't always the best idea.
