  • How to clean sunscreen out of leather

Any ideas? On vacation last week, the sunscreen apparently leaked a bit in the backpack and soaked into the leather at the bottom of the backpack. Now, it is stained, which I don't really care about, but it reeks of sunscreen, which I do care about. Any tips on how I can clean it to lessen the odor?

A friend of mine who ran a leather shop in the 60s to 70s swears by Lexol but I would stop in at your local shoe repair shop and ask there because the technology has certainly changed in the intervening years.

Baking soda on anything usually works to get odors out, but I would test it on a hidden patch first. I don't think baking soda stains either.
