    I prefer to use easy gross because what is net? Is it just taxes and SS? Because our "net"what ends up in the checking account to spend is less than 40% of gross. It seems very low to budget off of that so I typically run gross numbers.

      Tangent, but I agree... I never try to use "net income," because it's dependent on what I have taken out for taxes, 401k, insurance, and others -- all of which I can change month to month at will or as required. Easier just to use gross, and consider each of those things (along with everything else) to just be another bill/expense.
