    My wife's ring

I think mine might be one of the more expensive things in our house, too. Computers are up there, followed by living room furniture (if you count the whole set).

lol I totally forgot about that one... My rings cost the same as my car!!!

Re: The most expensive thing in your house

      1. Our greatroom furniture...$5000, genuine leather sofa and loveseat. My husband bought it years before we met, during his bachelor days.
      2. My husband's computer...$4000. He does video work on the side, thus he needed a powerful computer and appropriate software for editing and such. He purchased this before we married, though.
      3. My engagement/wedding ring.

My husband isn't much of a spender, but on the very rare occasion when he does spend, he spends big!!!

My wedding ring would be first, our computers and tv would be next.

Hmm the more I read the more expensive stuff I find!

my engagement ring was more than the computer, and then the wedding rings wern't free either. my furniture is all hand me downs though so I have no idea the origional cost (though current worth is small)

The most expensive thing that I own that is currently in my house is my bassoon. I'm sure SO's assorted toys (TV, computers, etc) cost more, though!

Dh has a grand hockey card collection...no idea the full value on it. I would sell it out from under him in a minute if I thought I could get away with it. LOL!

A few years ago he sold 4 cards and bought me a china cabinet and paid for a trip to Vegas for himself. Yep, it's tempting...

Re: The most expensive thing in your house

Mine is a toss up between our couch (leather, bought for $1100) and our 2 computers. My boyfriend built both computers, so total cost for each is less than $1000. However, with software they could be above the couch value.

Also, I guess if you look at replacement value it would be our books. We have three floor to ceiling book shelves in our office, plus another small book shelf. Many of them are hardcover so I'm sure the replacement value could go over the price of our couch.

Re: The most expensive thing in your house

Ugh, opening up a can of expensive worms here:

                  1. Renovated backyard ($60000)
                  2. Kitchen renovation ($30000)
                  3. Painting inherited from DH's mum ($10000 approx)
                  4. Battle between fridge and lounge suite (each cost somewhere between $6000-$7000)

Pushing it's way in at No. 3 (in Feb '06) will be the frontyard renovation at about $35000. Thank goodness the "Money Pit" will be finished then and we can concentrate on enjoying it all

Re: The most expensive thing in your house

Probably my fridge or bed. We bought a new bed a year ago that was around $900. I try not to spend too much on electronics (TV, computer, home theatre, ect.) Kids take the most money though...but I wouldn't consider them a liability.

Aside from the cost of building our house; my wife's engagement ring wins...

Jewelry, although it was all purchased so long ago........... not even sure of current values
Piano, also purchased years ago, but I understand it hasn't decreased in value still. Kind of nice to know, since it was a real luxury when I bought it and I had to scrape money together!!!

Interesting question all round. Discovered I don't own much of anything when it comes right down to it. Certainly nothing anyone else would consider valuable.
