      Sorry to hear about your loss. We just lost my father-in-law 2 weeks ago and can relate to your situation. I agree that renting the house might be a worthy option to look into, especially with the way the market is right now. Property value will most likely appreciate depending on how long you hold on to the home.

      Also Executors are entitled to reasonable compensation for their services. What is reasonable compensation? Typically 5% of estate income and expenses. If you use an agent to sell an asset such as a house or investments you are not entitled to compensation. You will need to consult an attorney familiar with probate laws in your state.
