Bin Laden is Dead

This is news that the American people will likely cheer about for weeks, and with good reason--he has stood as a symbol since the 1990's of the terrible events our country (and the world) has experienced. I'm curious, however, what sort of real impact it will have at this point. Certainly, he was a powerful leader and influence in the al Qaida network, but since he went into hiding nearly a decade ago, his influence (and his health) has dwindled. Will his death really change anything? Without a doubt, his death is a highly iconic victory for the U.S. But to what effect?

Personally, I don't see how this will have any effect at all, except the government will no longer be spending billions of dollars looking for him. Terrorism isn't going to suddenly stop because bin Laden is dead. Al Qaeda isn't going to go out of business, nor is any other terrorist group. It gives the 24 hour news networks something to talk about for a few days, but then it will be back to business as usual.Steve

I just find it strange his body was burried at sea. Wouldn't they want to keep the body for a period of time? I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything, I just found this pretty odd.
Otherwise I hope it provides some closure for the victims' families.
