    1. I buy gas at Daily's where I earn rewards points and I also use my Shell Saver Card which saves me $.10 per gallon through 4/30/11 and $.02 per gallon after that.

    2. I drive more efficiently; less acceleration, less braking, less speeding.

    3. I try to run errands in the morning, before work, as traffic is not as bad.

    4. I walk to stores that are close to where I live as opposed to driving.

We shop at Rainbow Foods where you earn money off your Roundy's card for buying groceries. It's something like .10 to .20 off per gallon. Plus if you use cash the gas station down the block will give you 5 cents off per gallon.

It was interesting to read all of your responses.

Gas seems to be higher on the West Coast where I live than on the East Coast and in the Mid-West, as you guys are reporting.

I had to add this: my younger sister found gas this past weekend for $3.99. Scary. This was in a small town she does not live in, but was passing through. Expect gas about $3.80 by end of day today here.

Can't the gov't offer gas rebates on our tax returns??! Lol There's a novel idea!

No changes here. It just costs more to fill up.

I've been hearing lately about how customer demand in the U.S. really began to fall off when we got up to $4 last time. This is where the real "gas out" may begin. People will still need gas but the extra trips and vacations will probably slow way down.

Nothing. I drive a fuel efficient car already.

As of 3/26 gas in my suburban area is Chicago was $3.79-3.89. Since our area stations get a fill on Mon I suspect it is even higher today. It is higher in the city.

Since I do not work I am restricting my major driving to 2x/week and routing all my shopping and errands for those days. I may allow myself a short drive (<5 mi rt) to hit a FREE lecture, concert, play or movie at the library or park fieldhouse.

I held back on entertainment & meals out this month - I still have 40% left. Guess it will go into my tank today. I will NOT be doing any vacation type activities until fall in the hope prices will abate somewhat as they usually do. I have not driven to either of my DD's (35 & 80 mi rt) since gas has gone over 3.50.

I guess the turmoil in N. Africa & the Mid East outweigh the FACT that Japan is using WAAAAY less petroleum than normal - not that I would wish that situation on any country.

I live on an island in the Caribbean, so I've started not using the AC at all, just windows down, and I've found that does help the tank stay full longer.

WOW!!!!! And I thought $4.00 was bad..... That's horrible. I try to make sure I can have my gas last me at least a week after filling up. So I basically don't venture too far from home!

We traded in our old car for a 2011 Hyundai Elantra.

$4.05 here in L.A. I only commute 12 miles round trip for work. However, the past few weeks I entertained out of town guests and driving around really hurt my pocketbook. Filling up twice in 4 days ($120 total). I'm back to walking to the market and only carrying what I can for the (2) mile round trip.

Gas is about 9 dollars a gallon here in scandinavia. To cut costs we use public transport when possible (85% of time) and drive a bifuel car which can run on ethanol which is often cheaper. Much of the extra cost goes towers upkeep of roads, which compared to Nj are amazing. So on some days I think it might be a little worth it but maybe not 9 dollars worth it.
