I'm lucky to get one in on a weekend, whether at home or theater. Although in winter season I'm more likely to do a movie/show/video games as indoor activity. Otherwise there hasn't been much out to see in theater. I rate movies by 4 categories: Night showing, Matinee, Rental/Redbox, or Don't Bother.

Cheap Seats multiplex [12 screens] is in a nearby strip mall so we seem to take in a $2. movie at least once a month. We recently saw 'The King's Speech' and walked out marvelling about the well written script which stayed close to history, with actors who were skilled/believable in their roles. There was there was no swearing, no violence, no special effects, just enjoyable entertainment.

I'm excited for the Oscars. Although I haven't seen many of the movies that are nominated I always see which ones win and try to watch some of them afterwords! And I love to see the movies I have actually seen, and thought were good, win of course.

Sometimes, the actual movie is very disappointing in comparison to the preview. (I've often wondered why they don't get the people who made the trailer--to edit the whole movie )
Yep, before she retired my mom worked in the accounts department of a company that produced trailers for films. Some movies were very difficult to do trailers for, there just weren't enough good scenes to use. Others were very easy. So yes, they do sometimes put the only good scenes in the entire movie into the trailers.

Is it only me or are movies of the last 2-4 years really gone downhill?
