Tonight I went through my desk and organized and decluttered stationery and greeting cards. I'm very proud of organizing them by type, finding all those stray envelopes and finishing the job!

I decided to pare down the number of decorative items above my kitchen cabinets. I pulled all the items down, including floral baskets. I took the items outside and hosed everything down, including the baskets and florals. Sparkly clean. I put only four items back up and it looks refreshing to have less. I'm deciding what to do with the other items, some will likely get donated, but others incorporated into the rest of the home.My other blog is Your Organized Friend.

I gave this tip to my sister awhile back concerning some furniture they want to donate...but it has yet to be done. It's a simple call. I think she wants to have as much as possible ready to go. But really the big stuff can be one pickup and the other stuff, once gathered, can be another. Don't let perfection get in the way of decluttering!!My other blog is Your Organized Friend.

Many of the larger charity organizations like Goodwill [GW] Salvation Army [SA] follow a schedule, you can easily learn when their truck will be in your area/community. If you purge to that target date, a brief phone call will get a truck to your door. You can leave your donation tagged with the charity name outside on the driveway/stairs. By giving items you no longer use or love, you are blessing someone else with your generosity. Another person will love, use and enjoy your discards. The added benefit is a clearer closet/cupboard/shelf
/drawer, less stuff to look after and likely able to locate the items you seek.

If you have school age youngsters, it's time to get ready for the new school term. What still fits...what's outgrown? What needs replacement? Where will the money come from? If there is a market for used clothes in your community, have a look on Craig's List or Kijijji + name of your community for this local e-bay site as well as e-bay. In these challenging days it's a good idea to cut corners where we can for the broad category of school supplies.
Anything ripped, stained, elasticity expired needs to be trashed. Items outgrown but in good condition might be sold or donated to your preferred charity for a USA tax deduction. Does your church offer a clothes exchange? If you have teen daughter, would they consider a clothes exchange party with their friends? The ladies in our condo complex organize an exchange in early November...why not teens who are the most fickle of fashionistas?
If you work in an office, ask HR if they will consider clearing excess inventory of paper/pencil/pen/marker/binder supplies for donations to military or charity outlets.
