I'd say, crazy. I have seen too many HEALTHY people devastated by a medical emergency. Heck, I am in the midst of this myself (young spouse just had a brain tumor removed). But our health insurance means $6k out of pocket instead of six figures.
From my perspective, $200/month is a steal. But then again, is it worth anything? Having good health insurance has always been a priority for us. We are healthy as can be, but after 2 pregnacnies, and this, I'd say we got our money's worth.
In general HDHP plans are good for catastrophic insurance. Everything is out of pocket until you hit your deductible. Thu Thus, you pay cash for doctors' visits, and such. But big things are covered. You can probably pay cash for a normal pregnancy, but anything unusual would be covered. Cancer, car accidents, and issues at birth seem to be the common things that come out of nowhere and throw people for a financial loop.
