  • What do you regret buying?

What have you bought that you regret buying? Did you figure out why you bought it? Was it an impulse purchase? Did sales staff convince you or were successful at upselling? Did the item turn out to be a disappointment, not live up to it's hype?
Do you buy because it was on sale...too good a deal to pass up even though you have enough or didn't need

My husband's motorcycle... actually it wasn't my choice but his. Now he realizes that I'm not comfortable riding on one and he never has time to ride it. Trying to sell it now...

Things that i don't have now that i sold i regret that i bought it. If i still have it means that i am putting it to good use. Example i paid 900 dollars for my latest keyboard ( i am a keyboard player) and i have had it since 2002 so i don't regret that i bought. But my previous keyboard that i paid 540 dollars for and sold it a year later i regret that i ever bought it.

Also you mention impulse buying when an item is on sale. My dad always makes a joke to never buy anything on sale and you will save alot of money . Most people buy things just because they are on sale.

I have a full basement full of stupid stuff that i have bought over the years.

My biggest regrets - trading in perfectly good cars thinking I needed to "upgrade". I traded a perfectly good car in because I thought I "needed" a minivan. And, I think I could have driven my other cars for years longer without trading and saved a small fortune but caught the new car bug every so often.

My other biggest mistake was buying and old home and remodeling it. Of course, I did this last year prior to economic collapse. Now, I feel like an idiot and I am renting it but I am ultimately going to lose money when I sell. But, can't cry over spilled milk, live and learn. But, golly, don't you hate those high priced lessons? Learn from me!

I regret paying for "undercoat sealing" for one of my last cars. Waste of money-it was late, been at the dealership for hours and I wasn't thinking straight.

Yeah they're notorious for that. They tried to sell me scotch guarding for the seats, a backup owners manual for a hundred bucks, clear coat sealant, a secret ignition button (no joke)... and the whole process took 4 hours to leave the place with my new car!

Which is the thing I regret buying. It's been a great car for me, but I doubt I'll never pay for a new car again. The depreciation is just horrible.

My dogs. LOL. No idea they were so expensive. Impulse on the first dog but definitely worth it.

If anyone ever asks pets are expensive.

Nothing major. Many years ago, we bought NEW cars but at least we drove them over 5 years.
I buy random dumb stuff on occasion. I am not a sucker for sales, but I can be for mega mark down clearances. I just bought 90% dishes at Kohl's. I paid about a buck a plate etc but I don't NEED any more dishes. If you do this often you get clutter which I hate b/c then you can't find anything.

I almost did. They had a free promotion to clean your rugs with no other obligations(right!). They clean your rug and give you a sales pitch from hell.I spent an hour getting rid of them; Nope, didn't spend a dime here. I'm sure they've gotten over on many people.

It's amazing the things we'll buy when we're sick, or have insomnia at 3:00 in the morning!
