if you chose to go this way I guess you would have to have a diaper pail in the bathroom;-)
and for god sakes you would have to provide TP for you guests, unless your intent is to run people off

you would have to be very clean people as well, most of my friends and family cannot seem to manage their regular laundry ,thats before adding something like this to the mix

I am not opposed to people doing this and like many thing would seem odd,but I am pretty sure people have been around longer than toilet paper, but since it has been invented I ill continue to use it ;-)

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. We used cloth diapers and people who never tried them make them out to be about 1000 times the hassle (& smell) they really are. We got so many ignorant comments. (It was even worse because we used a diaper service - so we didn't have to deal with any of the cleaning or anything. We literally set them out on the front porch to be picked up and replaced with clean diapers one a week - was easier than disposables if you ask me).

I am all for reusable toilet paper. Probably would keep the paper toilet paper out for guests and stuff. But it does absolutely amaze me how wasteful our society is. I would be willing to wash ourselves. I mean what do you do but throw it in the wash anyway? It's not like we are washing our laundry by hand in this day and age. We washed our fair share of poopy clothes and diaper covers when our kids were little.

Plus seriously, cloth is a much more pleasant experience all around, than any paper. I'd take a reusable cloth any day over newspaper.

ETA: We have always used cloth instead of napkins and paper towels - not a big deal.

I can understand cloth baby diapers. baby poop, like puppy poop, just seems a little easier to deal with than the adult alternative. I'd have to be fairly well convinced that this was really beneficial to go that route.

Wasteful or not, I'm not going to wash a rag covered with adult BM.

Considering the responses not sure I would publicize if I did, but I tell you I wouldn't buy or make reusable TP. I'd just go buy some cloth. I'd say the reusable TP industry is a rip.

That's the point I was going to make... What if there was a service that picked up the soiled cloths and replaced them with fresh, clean ones? Would that change people's opinions of this? Additionally, non-disposables would prevent plumbing and septic system problems like backups/overflows, saving money there as well.

(Let it be known that I am NOT pro-cloth here... Just playing devil's advocate.)

                        That is beyond gross.

Baby poop doesn't stink much if they are breast feeding - if they are on formula - it gets pretty nasty. Thank god for the guy that invented the Diaper Genie!

Anywho, a better idea is for the waste treatment center to extract paper fibers from the "flow" and create a recycled type paper - sterilized of course and sell that.

Otherwise - I've always thought - take care of your butt-hole and it will take care of you. I spend big bucks on the very best TP!

Ok... so here is a question.

Obviously, many people here feel that cloth TP is too gross to use. But how about bidets? Anyone here use a bidet or would consider getting one? I believe they make bidet toilet seats that you can install on your regular toilet.

Who would have ever imagined that a thread on TP would create this much interest......

Bidget, isn't that where it shoots water to help in the cleaning process? I'd consider it....maybe.

No way am I dealing with poopy rags in my wash. I wouldn't even want to contemplate it in my nice new front loader (they use very minimal water in the wash). Yuck. Who wants to wash a load of nice clothes after that? What if stuff gets into your machine - who wants to make that service call, lol? I can barely keep up with laundry as it is (I work full time and take 3 night classes).
