  • Are we ready for reusable toilet paper?

Cloth diapers are environmentally friendly -- would you be willing to use reusable toilet paper cloth wipes or is that still too extreme when it comes to saving money?

I don't think it is a big deal to use cloth toilet paper (also called "family cloth"). I use cloth menstrual pads (I'm sure you guys really wanted to know that. Lol.) and don't get what is so gross about using cloth. I do not use family cloth myself and it is not because I am not willing to, but because my family thinks it is gross.

When I first became introduced to family cloth I heard many people say that even though they use cloth, they still use regular toilet paper. They use the cloth for when they pee and the paper for everything else.

I am willing to try it. I am not sure if I'll only use cloth or a mixture of cloth and paper.

If I had no money i would be willing ;-)

we us no other paper products at all
but since my kids are waaaaay out of diapers and since I do all the laundry I do not care to deal with other people crap ;-) I am only willing to wash crap out of your stuff if you are under age 2 or are so sick with the flue I think you might die

As the person who does the laundry in our household I give a hearty "nay" to such an idea. I'd rather go out to our field and gather old corncobs to help with personal hygiene, than wash used toilet paper.

Um, no. Even if TP was banned, I'd start scrounging for newspaper or whatever to use.

OMG! I forwarded the link to my husband. I thought the guy was going to get whiplash turning around and looking at me. He gave me a dirty look and started blathering on about how much toilet paper we really use and so on and so forth. I knew he would have a "hell no!!" opinion about it. It was great for a good giggle!

I think I would "pilfer" napkins at fastfood joints before I did that. ok just kidding, but seriously, no, I would not be down with washing cloth as tp.
I want to keep my marriage at least a little sexy if you know what I mean.

I make a conscious effort to not use more tp than needed however.

Ok... this makes me want to go out and buy 100 packages of toilet paper, just in case.

No. Never. Won't happen in my house. That is just disgusting.

I like Cassandra's idea of using a combo of paper and cloth, depending. The other good thing about that is you'd always have paper on hand for guests to use.

                            Yikes!
In my case I can't see this as saving money. I would use at least a half gallon of bleach, gloves and detergent. Plus the endless flow of water rinsing it out. Then there's the meds for my upset stomach after vomiting during the traumatic ordeal. Then there would be the family breakdown as I would be angry and resentful everytime anyone in the house dropped some kids off at the pool.
I would risk a paper cut from the sears catalog pages before I would ever be able to use a cloth TP over and over again.

What about the smell of having "dirty" rags in the bathroom until you are ready to wash them?
