I agree. Even if you are an adult child living with your parents, you should all sit down and set ground rules. If you can't agree on terms, then live somewhere else.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

Treat others the ways you want to be treated: with kindness, dignity, and respect. Be nice to your kids. You might be asking to live with them someday.

This is a VERY good point. Sometimes parents, in their zeal to raise self-sufficient children or in their eagerness to enjoy the post-kids phase of their life, are a bit less supportive or considerate than they could be.

As we learn to extend people's lives, they often need more care and spend more time needing support. Care is very expensive and a lot of it falls to children. There's a good chance you're going to be asking a lot of your child someday--keep that in mind when you're forging your adult relationship with them.

Haven't you ever seen the bumper sticker?

Be nice to your kids. They will be choosing your nursing home someday.

Exactly. Check yourself before you wreck yourself and your retirement days.
