I have a degree in teaching I am not using. I can see myself being a tutor or teacher's assistant in my older age just for a few bucks and the fullfillment even tho it gets stressful even not having charge of the whole class at once. I have done it in my 20's also. I also have worked in the medical field doing office/phones/clerical and hands on patient work. I enjoy the patient work, but I would never ever chose to do the clerical billing end if money was not a motivation. I guess I like people. Even the hands on work with patients could be annoying when they wanted me in two exam rooms at once, but I digress (They don't pay me double lol)

        I definitely want to retire!

After I hit retirement, mental challenges, social life, and my contribution to society will be hopefully be achieved possibly by doing some missionary work, more involvement with church functions, spending more time with family and grandchildren, maybe take up some college courses for fun, having frequent ladies group, reading, garden, painting, volunteering and eating out for lunch and dinner often! If I am in good health, exercise like a walking group or something.

It really depends what I am actually doing near my retirement and if I am at a job that I love to do or not. I think some people work long hours for so many years that they become completely out of touch with what hobbies or pastimes they may enjoy and might have a hard time getting back into them. One must have time to explore new things and hobbies or other activities.

But if for some reason I do not have enough money saved by retirement, then I must have a mindset to love my job and enjoy it the best I can.

I hope my husband doesn't ever retire. He never sits still a minute when he is home. He would really like to restore old cars but that would cost a fortune unless he could get a job doing that.

I am 24 and been in the military 4 years. So I will retire from the military in 16+ years. I plan to switch over to the officer side within the next couple years and retire as at least a major. At 20 years I will get 50% of my base pay. Anything over will just add to that %. I love the military. Always something exciting to do. So I will be 40 making $40K+ a year doing nothing. Not to bad. I would most likely get another job to keep myself busy, but nothing to stressfull.

I''d like to go into semi-retirement (part-time) by 50 and take it from there.

I have a feeling that my retirement party and funeral will be held on the same day. At this point, I don't think I'll ever be able to afford to retire.

I think retirement would be boring so I hope to work until my mind and body wears out. My parent's friends have mostly retired with defined pensions and those in good health have been returned to the workforce on a contract basis. One became involved in politics and is now a Member of Parliament at double the salary he retired from the police force [on full pension].
