kork13 -- First, my mother as a kid had the nickname "Corky" (no idea where that came from... nothing to do with her name). My real name is Korey, so since it's close, I morphed those together and made it 'Kork'. I've been using that as a nickname since I was in middle school. '13' is just one of my favorite numbers (the other being 7). Why 13? I find superstitious people hilarious.

There are some interesting names here.... I've definitely wondered where everybody's had come from, so props to DS for finally asking.

I'm dying to know what a "geomorphologist" is. Something to do with the earth or geography I presume?

I knew a guy in college who went by Corky. His real name was Charles. Funny thing was his dog's name was Phil. People used to think it was funny that that the dog had the normal people name and his name was Corky which sounded more like a pet's name.

LOL. When I was in high school, an upper classmen started calling me Marigold b/c she would forget my name. She picked it b/c of my long blondish locks. LOL. It kind of stuck and I made my screen names variations of Marigold, and I shortened it to goldy.
It's funny how nick names can stick for years/decades.

Inkstain is the term we had in college for those of us who still believed that there is a future in print newspapers, rather than learning nothing but online journalism.

What seemed acceptable at 17, is now cringe-worthy as I'm knocking on 30. But it has been my "name" for so long that I can't bear to get rid of it. And so it stays, even though I wince a bit when people ask me for my email address.
I think it is a wonderful name, and since pearl is the name of my husbands grandmother, I don't find it kidish at all.

But then I really am a big kid myself (never mind that I am prolly the same age as you 20something and not planning on switching to 30something, regardless of what the calender says!)

Almond = the shape of my eyes
73 = my year of birth

It's what I came up with when I signed up.

                              Such a cool thread.

My initials are GAK and when trying to think of a screen name it sounded kinda cool to combine it with the grackle bird. I claim no affinity to the creature except for the love of flying.
