I just adopted a 6 month old cairn terrier that is not spayed. I am looking for something with wellness coverage and accident/medical coverage...low deductable...any recommendations? Is VPI the best??

I use VPI for my lab. I know of several breeders and a county K9 unit that use VPI. However, the wellness coverage doesn't do much for you. I wasn't able to find any insurance plans that had decent wellness coverage. Luckily, I've never had to use the insurance but it is nice to have. -

Personally, I'm a big believer in self-insurance for pets. What that means is that you include in your budget (or set aside) a certain amount each month. You calculate your basic costs (food, monthly preventative, annual checkup and vaccinations) and then you add an extra "cushion" that you will use to cover the irregular and sometimes extraordinary expenses that are guaranteed to come up. For example, the extra cushion could be $40 per month. Then, in 3 years, if there have been no irregular expenses to deal with yeet, you would have almost $1,500 in savings to cover a serious illness.
As a bit of unsolicited advice, when it comes to spending money on your pets, I recommend keeping spending on "extras" (cute things) to a minimum and instead focus on their basic needs such as medical care (either in the form of insurance or a rainy day fund). Since you asked the question you did, it sounds like you know that.
