How old is he? And, are you worried that he already has too much stuff or what is your concern?
If he likes video games, then get him a used video game for his birthday.

Um, what do you think of online internet games?

There are a few free ones. My favorite is MapleStory.

I've heard of a game called "Apples to Apples" on the radio. It is a board game, and it looks very simple, but I've heard it is fun.

Depending on your current habits a day where you promise to play a game with him might be a better present than a new one....

Or a gaming party where some less liked games are tested again and then sent on to a charity (I bet some hospitals could use some games for their children's ward..not all hospitalized kids are to sick for games) Also any game that is too lame to waste the afternoon on automatically gets sent on...other kids may like what he has moved on from.

If you really want to get him a new game, I would need to know his age for a real suggestion.....

Apples to Apples is an awesome game. They have a child's version that goes up to age 9 and a Bible version as well as the regular one. It is tons of fun. We have given it to many people over the years and everyone we've played it with loves it. Another game that is hard to find would be a rail game. They have 9 different ones, Indiarails, Eurorails, North American rails, British rails, Iron Dragon (the most intriquite) and some i forget. They are geared to a 12 year old and up but a smart 10yr old could do it. If he's a monopoly fan he might enjoy making his own, they sell kits for that as well.

Rail games require a certain type of personality!

Though ticket to ride on the other hand is a wonderful game (Europe, or America) and a great lesson in geography..though you wouldn't notice...easy enough for a smart kid to play, challenging enough I don't mind playing with them...

I would look to get him a Wii. They are very fun and interactive.

You may not like this, but i get alot of ours at the local pawn shop. I got a ps2 still in the box. Buy what looks good and clean it up to ur satisfaction. Alot are still like new in the box, they get more in pawn for items that way.

Yes...Mexican Train is an awesome game. And, it is pretty cheap. The only problem is that it can be difficult to find in certain parts of the country. Here is Texas, you can pick it up at Target or Wal-Mart, but in Michigan, good luck.

If you are looking for a video game I would give him a subscription to Game Fly. It is like Netflix but for Video Games. You can choose to have 1 or 2 games at a time. They have games for all systems.

Board games - depends on the age. My 12 year old is getting "Gobblet" and my 6 year old is getting "Blokus". Each can be purchased at Amazon or MindWare - Home Page

If he likes games alot, then he'd probably love a magic kit that he could use to perform magic tricks (instructions, accessories etc.). He could show off with his tricks and alot of ppl like that kind of stuff.
