That is an awesome game!!! at family gatherings someone usually has that game around and we all start playing... haha... a big group of us was playing this thanksgiving after eating.

The players are given 5 cards - "nouns". Each player takes turns being the judge... the "judge" removes an "adjective" card and places it face up in the middle. Adjectives include snooty, weird, generous, scary, hilarious..etc.. and they all have fun, easy to remember definitions at the bottom of the card (great learning for the little ones!). THEN, every player chooses a "noun" from their had - the noun is what (in their mind) best represents the adjective in question. The player then puts their one noun card face DOWN on the table. The judge then picks up all cards randomly and goes through them - the "best" noun that matches the adjective (according to the judge's mind) wins the round and gets to keep the adjective. The judge doesn't know who put it down so its fair to all. Whoever wins the most "adjective" cards wins the game.
For little kids - the game usually stays "concrete", attatching formal meanings to adjectives & nouns, meaning that a child judge usually wont understand connected meanings or trailing meanings.... if the adjective is dirty, they'd choose "mud" over "britney spears". It makes for a nice learning tool if nothing else.
For adults - it can get hilarious as you try to get inside their head to see what the adult judge personally thinks matches. For instance, if the adjective is "Horrific", an adult player might put down "Hiro shima" (a history fact a child wouldnt connect to the adjective horrific)
....... does he have a nintendo DS? they're really popular if you're looking for a "big" gift for him.
