Re: Maximizing value at all-you-can-eat buffets

I wrote up a little document once called "All Ye can Eat." It was a table with the names of restaurants that had buffets, what the price was, where it was, whether beverage was included, whether it was lunch or dinner....each new find I'd enter into my table. Exciting stuff back then, when i was really broke and not at all concerned about being chubby. And I would get to the point that I couldn't drive, really; no joke. I avoid buffets now-not because I don't love them, but because I do.

Hmm.... I really should eat healthier....
      GO EAT BREAKFAST!!!!!!!

skipping meals is bad for your health no matter what meal it is. I know it is boring and prolly not tops on your mind first thing in the moring, but you are an adult you do not need me yelling at you every morning to eat, be a big boy and go do it, preferably with some complex carbs, some fruit or veggie, and some milk if you like it, not coffee!

You will feel healthier, get sick less often (who had the 'sniffles' a week or two back again?), and be more productive thruout your day..which is important if you really plan to go back to school..no midafternoon (evening) slump.

Also eventually eating only dinner will start to tell on your waistline, and unless you wear sweats all day you will need a new wardrobe....costly.

preventative maitnence..please (and after breakfast, eat lunch again mix of all food groups, and a snack high in fiber/protien, and dinner.)

I cannot and will not ever understand not eating when you have the money to do so (nor will I understand not feeding your kids when you have the money... but that is another rant for another person tonight)

And yes in case you wondered I at one time did not eat breakfast, or lunch....not good for health or body, I look better and feel better now, with my 2000 callories a day..and last year I lived with a family of 5 on less than you make now, so you CAN do it, and you should! (yeah opinionated, I know sorry, but this is a health issue.....)

Loved this. I could never do it, but I do get the plate of meat first. One plate of meat, chicken, beef, ham. Unforunately I love the mashed potatoes and gravy and the soups too much to pass on them. And I'm a salad bar (baby spinach! and sunflower seeds!) junkie, too. But I figure I at least get 2 times my money's worth, maybe more considering I drink a lot of milk when I go to one.

Thanks for posting this. As is my wont I wandered around in his blog after reading the buffet post and its a fun one. Definitely bookmarking it.

Thanks for the funny link. There used to be a great Chinese buffet near my office. The food was great and the price was cheap. Too cheap I guess because I think myself and a few co-workers singlehandedly drove them out of business!

              BA - an inexpensive breakfast - yogurt cup & T of peanut-butter.

uuhhhh...but only if you feel so inclined!

This is really gross. It remindes me of those disgusting contests people enter to see who can woof down the most hot dogs in 10 minutes, or the most pies, or whatever.

This rationale doesn't even make sense, becus while it may seem like you're getting more for your money, you can only eat so much food at one sitting. You may be full enough to skip maybe one meal at the most. All you're doing is stuffing on the pounds in an unhelathy way.

I guess this was tongue in cheek, but i'm guessing some people will take this seriously. Yuck.

I was a joke! The whole point was to be funny.

If someone takes it seriously, well, they're either humor-impaired or the reason for all those stupid warning labels on products.

Getting your money's worth at the buffet

You must be under 21, male and blood type "O" to be able to get away with eating that amount of food for one visit to the buffet! I sincerely hope that your metabolism continues to work for you instead of against you!!! Happy eating!!

Why does blood type matter? I'm blood type "O" and my metabolism is no better or worse than the next person than I'm aware of.

I think poster was referring to the 'Eat Right for Your Type' diet books which I believe classifies Type O's as meat-eaters.
