I don't consider myself a celeb worshiper, but I find this story interesting.
I didn't know anything about Anna Nichole or her son til the son died. Heck, I haven't watched the Academy awards in years and have no plans to watch it tonight. I haven't seen any of the movies and don't know who many of those people are.
I'm not a worshiper of sports in this country either. Super Bowl Sunday I watched the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. Now that was GOOD fun entertainment! LOL!

Obviously this thread perked enough interest for people to respond to it regardless of their claim of being interested in the story or not. I think people like to talk, give opinions or share with the community and thus talking about someone else's problem is easier than sharing your own.

It does not bother me if it's a celebrity or a regular person, but if the conversation comes to light what a good solution or a best idea that would help anyone (the baby in this case) rather than slamming.... I think its good practice of enrichment.

Point well taken, Gruntina. We can always learn from another person's victory or defeat.

A lot of caselaw is being discussed here in the Anna Nicole Smith's case and the outcome may benefit a lot of parents, guardians, or grandparents out there who may one day come in contact with one of these issues....whether with their children or their children's children.

Wills,revocable trust, durable power of attorney for health care and financial power of attorney are four documents that are very important to have, especially in a marriage or non-marriage if one has children. Everything happens for a reason and I do believe the lives of Terri Schiavo and Anna Nicole Smith are making a statement to get one's legal documents in order to keep the courts out of making a decision as to one's intent.

I agree. These high profile cases are a great time to remind people why they should have a will, a guardian named for their children, power of attorney, etc. A lot of people feel that because they aren't rich and famous, they don't need those things, but everyone needs them.

You sound just like Suze Orman. I was just reading her new book tonight and that's what one of the chapters is about. She said that lots of people think the only document you need is a will, but you really need much more than that to keep your estate from being tied up in court with lots of legal fees.

LOL! I used to work for the Wayne County Juvenile Court system and Wayne County Probate Court in Michigan and saw many children who were wards of the court. In some instances their parent or parents had passed away and we were entrusted with their money until they reached the age of 18 or 21. Many relatives came to petition the court for custody because of the child's inheritance. Had a will been in place or some other kind of directive, the court could have acted upon the document. This knowledge, coupled with Suze Orman, have made me not put important things off! I can't wait to receive my copy of Suze's new book, "Women and Money." Thanks for telling me that you have your copy and that there is a chapter devoted to this!!
