  • Is this allowed?

Looking through the posts, I noticed there aren't any opinions on the Anna Nicole Smith case. Just wondering what everyone's take is on how the child's money should be spent or invested (if there is any money coming to her) and how much would the distribution be if the child stays in the Bahamas as opposed to the United States? Meaning how much is $475 million in the Bahamian money denomination?

If this topic isn't allowed, sorry was just curious.

    Re: Is this allowed?

I really hope that they take care and get this right and soon. That little girl doesn't need to be passed around like a football while they straighten it all out. I hope that they put it into something that she will inherit when she gets much older and can make her own decisions. I think they need to get the paternity done and quick and get her assigned good lawyers and good finance people. I don't know much about legal issues in these cases, but what a mess.
On the finance side, it is a wakeup call to all who need to update wills and get finances in order (we need to update our will).

I agree with you 100% JanH. I feel for the child more than anyone else. She will grow up and inherit all this bad press about her mother and paternity issues. I hope her money will be held by the juvenile court until she is 21. Let the guardian or parent raise her with their own incomes if they truly love her as much as they say they do.

        Me too!
I think her best chance of a "normal" life will be with Larry Burkette, who I believe is the real Dad.

I heard he bought his title of prince.

I keep asking DH what will happen if none of the men who have stepped forward turn out to be her father

Whoever is taking care of the baby should grab a baby bottle and give it to Larry Birkhead's attorneys so they can get the DNA. I don't trust Stern with the baby.
I have no idea why the grandmother is staying the order to not have her daughter buried in the Bahamas next to Daniel. She should let go and say her goodbyes and go back to Texas....IMHO.. as she lied about accepting money to have photos taken at Daniel's gravesite for money.

The Bahamas uses the Bahamas dollar and is a one-to-one ratio with the USD according to XE.com.

My opinion is that this isn't news. It doesn't belong as the lead story on every newscast. It shouldn't occupy a big block of the morning news shows. Surely there are more important things happening in the world that are worthy of coverage. When was the last time you heard a news story about the massacre occuring in Darfur, for example?

I truly don't understand why anyone not directly involved in the situation gives a darn what happens. If I want to see a soap opera (which I don't), I'll turn on General Hospital. The celebrity worship in this country baffles me.

                  Re: Is this allowed?

I am not really following the stories. It just keeps being on every news thingy we tune into. I sometimes wonder if people get frustrated with seeing only the bad side of news (wars, crime, economy, etc.) and get to watching something else. I wish the news would balance bad news/good news on each subject and then I wouldn't turn it off so much. I can only take so much gloom. I know that things can be serious, but good news on the finance successes or any other story would be nice more often than just once in a while.

*Ugh* the sound of my thumb sweating as I search for a channel with real NEWS.

I feel sorry for the kid - she'll be lucky to survive. I keep thinking of poor little rich girls Gloria Vanderbilt & Tina Onassis.

I have to agree with disneysteve. The local people on my other forum are consumed with celebrities!! That is why I rarely watch tv.

I agree with Steve, too. I'm so sick of hearing about Anna Nicole that it isn't funny. I'd rather hear about someone that's a GOOD role model for others. I have yet to figure out why she was even famous.

I do feel sorry for the baby. She's an innocent in all this. I just hope she ends up with someone that can give her a normal, happy life.

                          Re: Is this allowed?

Well I watched tons of it on TV & have had so much of it I could scream now I feel so badly for that baby I sure hope the bahamas straightens this out or it could send a bad bad message to not only the poor baby who needs to bond with the real father now instead of when she 3 or something & dont know who he is. And it also sends a message to moms that they can just leave the country if they decide they want the dad out of the picture & thats not right either.

As for Dannylynns estate I sure hope they put it in a trust for that little girl. Whats so sad is she could end up just like ANS lets all hope that dont happen & NO WAY should HKS be caring for this child at this point if anything give her to grandma or the foster care system even if HKS is the father I think they made it known in court hes not fit to be a parent!!!

Thanks gackle for this currency converter! Makes sense why they took off to the Bahamas to have the baby and why Stern wants to remain there with the baby too.

Yes Judge Seidlin was a card! I have never seen such a drama in all my years of working in a courtroom. I do think he was trying to be fair to everyone, but kept interrupting their testimonies to talk about himself lol. Already there is an album out of him crying in court. I think he will become famous after this as he will be wanted on every talk show. Oprah will probably have him on first.

personally, i have tried to stay away from the case. with friends over in Iraq right now who i think about every day, who have lost friends over there, i think it is ridiculous to have a 5 second blurb about "today 5 marines lost their lives...back to the anna nicole smith case" for 3 hours.
                              ridiculous!!!!
