  • Would you own one of these cars?

Seats two, 40 miles to the gallon.
I read about these in a local paper last night.
Had to see their website. .

This car would never work for this yard sale addict! I need space to cart my treasures home, but 40 miles to the gallon sounds mighy good!
I think they are kind of cute though. They are very popular in Europe.

Sure I would - I owned one of the very first tee-tiny Hondas! Cool-i-o!!

    Thanks for the link!

I will take the yellow one & save on the car insurance. Insurance is cheaper for yellow cars!
Red, is the most expensive. What do bulls like? RED!

All I can think is they must be deathtraps in an accident, just like the Yaris and the Fit and other little cars that have recently gotten popular. I want a car with more protection for the occupants. My wife and daughter were in a bad accident a few years ago. Had they been in something this small (they were in a Toyota Sienna minivan) my daughter probably would have been killed.

No, I couldn't see myself in that. I go to Lowes almost every week. That just couldn't haul anything!

I've driven something almost exactly like that many, many times.

But, even if you owned one of these, you would still have to pay greens fees. Plus, who has the time to play golf that much?

What? You're supposed to drive it where?

            No way!

There's nothing smart about that car. When I read the name, I wanted it to learn and adapt to me and be intuitive. It doesn't do that. You can get a 4 door civic that gets 40 mpg.

I echo deathtraps. Besides disneysteve, sure it's great that they are okay against normal cars, but have you seen the supersized SUV and trucks in the US? There aren't those cars in Asia and Europe like here. Here people have no issues driving expeditions and suburbans. Um...heck no.

I would never buy an European car. It is so hard to find parts in metric sizes (instead of English sizes) in the U.S. Doing repairs on the car would be a nightmare.

I would definitely love to have one of these. They are very popular in Europe. Although small in size, it feels quite roomy once you are inside. But after all, it all comes to price. If they are cheap enough to buy, own and maintain, then I would go for it.

Safety is certainly a concern, but for what it's worth, it's also something that Smart engineers have been aware of from the very beginning. Up to a point, it's not so much how heavy a vehicle is, but how well it is designed to survive an impact. If you think about it, a walnut is pretty tough for something so small and light. More accurately, that's why some vehicles in the same class can receive different crash ratings.

All things being equal (if everyone around me was driving one, perhaps) but we all know what happens when an Escalade or Hummer hits one of these.

                          Not very smart for $30k!!

Id rather have a Yaris for half that.

As far as safety, there are many smaller cars out there that are very safe. The Mini by BMW is definitely high on that list. I heard the Yaris and Fit got poor crash ratings and the Nissan Versa got good ratings.

But just because its larger doesnt mean its better. The previous generation Ford F150s scored terribly...crushing occupant's legs on frontal impacts. Yikes!

OMG! I hadn't even looked at the price. That's insane. Based on that alone, I would absolutely never consider one of these. 30K for a car that I can't even get my family into? Not a chance. Heck, I wouldn't spend that much for a car that I could get my family into. That's way too much money for a vehicle.

Why would I ride around in a tin can with a motor? On roads with tractor trailers I would be very uncomfortable and in high winds I'd have trouble. I'd sooner spend a little more on gas than get smooshed in one of these itty bitty golf carts.
