  • Have you had this happen to you?

We started a budget - we're watching our grocery bill.... we eat at home alot more..

and DANGIT - we've lost weight!

Have any positive unxpected results crept up because of financial changes in your life?

Yes - my husband is a waif and could hardly be skinnier but when we went down to 1-income and started eating in more he lost a good 5-10 pounds. Not that he needed it - LOL.

I've been eating out a lot less in recent months - my weight has dropped as well.

i lost weight when i started eating less processed foods.

also, i feel better when i drink hot tea or water rather than soda or a crap-uccino from the gas station.

Uh, I was doing so well with the not eating out and losing weight, until I meet furture hubby,.....now I am trying to get back to not eating out so much, but with 'two bases' of operation it's hard. I think it will be easier once we are married and actually living in the same place. But I have certainly felt the difference of not eating as well.

*sniff* ours is just the opposite - both kevin and I have put on weight since we got married (I put on 8 lbs and he's put on about 20). My boss calls it being "fat and happy" ..haha I think our problem is that now we're settled and married, we now MAKE TIME to sit down to eat. I cook most nights, mom cooks every now and then, and the only time we go out to eat is Sunday after church with my parents (buffet at Ryans Steakhouse! yummy!). Before we married we were so busy with other stuff we could easily skip meals and forget about eating (or at least I could). We seem to have leveled off though so hopefully we'll stay right where we are.

Congratulations on the changes in your life!

The biggest change for us was an incredible feeling of freedom!

Definitely I notice my weight increases everytime we go out to eat a lot on vacation or business.

Most people gain weight when they get married. Plus most peole gain weight in I think late 20s early 30s.so if you happen to get married at that age..double trouble!

I noticed in our finance journey....this is weird, but less garbage...we both hate to take out the garbage, and when we 'got serious' about cutting down expenses, the biggest change (aside from the bank statements) was less garbage.

I saw an article in Kiplinger's last week that said the healthier you are the wealthier you are. Guess it works both ways!?!

Here's the article if anyone wants to read it: Want to Get Rich? Get in Shape

Well when I quit working FT about 6yrs ago to stay at home with my kids I had to quit smoking partly because I couldnt smoke around my kids & partly cause I couldnt afford to anymore. Most positive thing that came from being broke LOL well as far as my health goes. I did also loose quite a bit of weight not sure if that was good or bad I wastn heavy or anything. And since I wasnt sitting anymore I was chasing kids all day & eating cheaper like ham sandwich instead of burger king or something I dropped 20pounds
