I used to love to buy candy right after Halloween. I got some Halloween Lindt truffles last year for cheap. Mmmmmm.... truffles.

But... I also know it's not good for my health, so I don't plan on doing that either this year.

I prefer the after-Easter candy sales, LOL, but the best price deals are on the way-way-after-xmas sales in January.

I find these threads about shopping to be fairly depressing.

No way - you couldn't pay me to go in those crowds. That is the nice thing to being frugal isn't it? You don't have to wait to Black friday to swing a deal. LOL.

Last year there were brooken bones in our city. NO thanks.

          Probably not.

No one in my family really wants "stuff". The thing we do want are usually specialty products related to hobbies and interests of ours. Nothing you could really find at the mall.

That being said, my mom has been looking for a new TV, so I may keep an eye peeled for one in the whole Black Friday mess.

What is black friday? (don't have the term here in Canada)

I won't go shopping on Black Friday unless I have a reason to go shopping. That 'reason' may be needing something and Friday being as convenient a day as any to buy it; or it may be something I need is on sale and I can buy it during the afternoon (after the early morning madness has died down). But as that implies, I won't make it a point to either go shopping OR not go shopping on Black Friday.

In the past I have usually bought gas or a small amount of groceries on Black Friday, just as a personal protest against certain over-zealous people (on another website) who push "Buy-Nothing Day" too strongly and verbally abuse people who disagree with them. I'll probably follow my "buy something" custom again this year because of that; but either way, it's not a big deal imo.

It's the Friday following the American Thanksgiving (which is the fourth Thursday in November, unlike ours which is the second Monday in October). It's a day of sales that "traditionally" kicks off the Christmas shopping season.

We don't have a corollary here.

There is no place to go shopping around here, I doubt there will be a crowd at the dollar store. We do often go away for thanksgiving since it is my birthday and I don't want to cook.
