I guess I should respond since I think I'm the one that suggested this thread.
OK, Steve, I give you full credit.
I'd buy a VW New Beetle convertible, in robin's egg blue and black, with all the bells and whistles.
A condo in Sydney.
A $10,000 donation to my alma mater.
Have a party (fly in all the out-of-towners) and have some incredible band play (don't suppose I can get the Stones for a few hundred thousand?!). And hotel rooms or limos so nobody has to drive home drunk!
I just looked at the response I gave on the other thread. There I said I'd do the Holland America 105-day Grand World Voyage cruise. I'll stick with that. That would take care of Isreal, Mediterranean region and Europe.

Which bells and whistles? Can I interest you in this one? Also check out the Honda scooter.
LOL. But it's silver, not blue!!
How much do you think he wants for it? Guess I'd have to dump the condo, the college, and the Stones... and everyone has to sleep on the bus after the party...
I have always wanted a place to go and dance. I would buy a little honky tonk place, hire a live band and dance until I have used up the whole million!!
sadly it wouldn't go very far where we live... a million might just buy us a nice house in a ok area or an ok house in a nice area...right now 800K is about standard for those houses... i read in the newspaper that a median single family (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, maybe 1,000-1,200 sq ft) home price was above 600K on our island... the 3 bedroom/1 1/2 bath townhouses in our pretty decent neighborhood have been selling for around 425-500K fee simple.... sad huh? i don't know how we're ever going to afford a home...
now if i had to spend 10M that would be a different matter...
the home of our dreams complete with all the land and fruit trees we ever wanted (easily 3M, help out our family and our 2 best friends who are also struggling with the high COL here (generous 4M), newer used cars (lol) and then indulge our dreams... travel to vietnam, japan, europe, africa, across the US... go on every cruise we want...
and like the above posters... PARTY!!
I would be able to pay off all my sisters mortgages, our mortgage, parents mortgage, and purchase sil a home with half that. The other half could be used to take all on a very long vacation, giving, newer cars, heck, maybe even paying off all of their debts. It would go pretty far here.
A ranch in Texas very much like President Bush's ranch.....that would be very nice.
I'm sure $1 million wouldn't even cover the down payment.
