"Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work, this is a gift from God. He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart.

When money is seen as a solution for every problem, money itself becomes the problem.

“What always impresses me, is how much better the relaxed, long-term owners of stock do with their portfolios than the traders do with their switching of inventory. The relaxed investor is usually better informed and more understanding of essential values; he is more patient and less emotional; he pays smaller capital gains taxes; he does not incur unnecessary brokerage commissions; and he avoids behaving like Cassius by ‘thinking too much.’”

Pay yourself LAST? I'd always heard "Pay Yourself FIRST."

                            What gives?

The key is to have so few wants that you can comfortably live and have plenty of money left over to save. I know all the experts say the reverse but we save 38% of our gross (on a modest salary) by paying ourselves last. Paying yourself first is just too restrictive for me but YMMV.
