Lux, Rick: you stories are so great!
I love it that something discarded be used in so many ways.
I feel that recyling is good karma and promoting landfills should be punished/fined/culpable.
I am all for people who rescue animals. My brother was the Gerald Durrel of our street.
I grew up with stories like:
Born free, Catch me a Colobus, Rosie is my relative, All things bright and beautiful and more. Any one who rescue animals has got to be a very nice person.
Lux, I like the billfold Icon so much.

Stopped at a garage sale today. The people had renovated and updated the house. The most beautiful furniture was all there at almost give away prices.

It was so hard to walk away but none of it would have fitted our decor.

I love garage sales and have been able to get great bargains. The stuff might not be free but it sure is useful.

My neighborhood has "The Great Garage Sale" once a year. Every one puts out stuff to sell and tons of people show up, some of them who don't live in this area. We make quite a bit of money, not to mention cleaning out the garage. I think the Sanitation folks get upset with us, but people go around picking through the leftovers.

Amorphous02, thanks for posting this link - I was just wondering this morning if there was a site like this!

While driving around this a.m. I spotted 1 very large roll of Christmas wrapping paper and what appears to be a very nice fan AND an upscale looking high-chair, very fancy! As I didn't need any of these things I left them for others, but they were good finds!

Had a visit this weekend from the world's best collector. (No1 Son) He has furnished his house and the rooms for several student borders from the side of the road.

He has the system off pat! When he finds something better than what he currently has he "updates it" and puts the older piece out for others. Some of the rooms are now getting to the excellent stage where you would have thought the furniture was new.

He lives in an area with lots of students so there is always a huge turnover of gear!

If I hadn't seen the system in action I would not have believed it possible.

I know exactly what you mean BudgetMan! Rich kid from NYU dumped his shelving system wort$150.00 My friend now uses it in her home-office, earning more money because of a good filing system made possible due to these easy access shelves!

No, but I stole a dog once. It was at a house next to an old house we had converted into an office. The people kept the puppy tied up all day on shoelaces tied together. It had no food and water and it cried all day.
The 2nd day, I stole that puppy, took it home, and washed 4,813 fleas off of it, it was eaten up! Then I found a good home for it!

That is so sweet Ima! I rescued my doggy from the shelter, she had been abandoned 3 times in 9 months! I don't know why, she is just the sweetest thing. I watch that animal cops on animal planet and it breaks my heart the way people treat their animals!

I had to laugh on Saturday!

I took the boys on a sailing weekend. We camped at the side of a huge lake and about 20 dads and their sons had a great time. (I just wish we could get away like this more often)

So here we are sailing these catamarans and paddling kayaks. I notice that no1 son has been out a long time and wonder if they've been tipping over on purpose.

Then in comes the Catamaran with a surf ski (like a sit on kayak) tied across the front.

The boys were so excited. They'd been right up the far end of the lake and had rescued this surf ski caught washed up on a deserted beach.

Well come Sunday afternoon and loading oll the boats, sure enough the ols surfski is being tied on. One of the fathers is going to fix it for one of the boys.

The surf ski had been in the water a long time by the growth on it!

My mom rescued a stroller from the curb. I was totally surprised it's very unlike her but it works great!
